Keeping Norwich safe at night.
Purple Flag is a national accreditation scheme for city centres at night. It’s the ‘gold standard’ for night time destinations, which recognises Norwich as providing a vibrant and diverse mix of dining, entertainment and culture whilst promoting the safety and wellbeing of visitors and local residents.
Norwich BID apply for the prestigious Purple Flag accreditation to support the city centre's evening and night-time economy (ENTE). Similar to Blue Flag for beaches, Purple Flag aims to raise the standard and broaden the appeal of town and city centres between the hours of 17:00 and 05:00.
As a certified Purple Flag city, Norwich boasts a safe and enjoyable night out any day of the week. To secure this accreditation, Norwich BID works in partnership with Norfolk Constabulary, and local businesses from across the ENTE, as well as the NHS, Norwich City Council & Norfolk County Council.
